KIND OF A MATE
After two released EPs and more than 100 concerts played throughout Switzerland, the band around the Altdorf singer-songwriter Matteo Gisler is taking new paths: away from classic singer-songwriter clichés towards captivating and distinctive indie pop sounds, enriched with gentle string sounds inviting to dream and dance. The Songbird Festival Davos, Stars in Town in Schaffhausen, and the Konzerthaus Schüür in Lucerne have already relied on the band from the canton of Uri – rightly so, as their music exudes depth combined with an indescribable longing. "Namay Kush" plays refreshingly groovy instrumental music. The four musicians create a sound world together from various influences: Afrobeat, jazz, dub, and funk. Around these musical cornerstones, they develop their own lively genre that is easily accessible and enchanting without relying on fixed patterns. During their three years of jazz studies, Samuel Brunner (guitar), Thomas Horat (bass), and Luis Greipl (drums) have grown into a well-rehearsed trio. In autumn 2023, Roger Greipl (saxophone) joined for the founding of the band "Namay Kush." The first EP was recorded in autumn 2024, with release and a release tour planned for spring/summer 2025.
