Only when Richard begins to go blind and can no longer manage his daily life alone is he forced to ask her for help. In this unavoidable encounter, two incompatible life concepts collide. Both characters prove to be blind – to each other's perspective, to their own wounds, and to the chance for understanding. It is only in a painful yet healing dialogue that a cautious rapprochement begins, as they gradually perceive each other's fears and motivations. The new play by Dutch author Lot Vekemans, one of the most significant playwrights of our time, whose works are performed worldwide, is a gripping conversational piece. With Blind, she once again hits the nerve of the times and poses the existential question: Is it possible to love someone whose beliefs you reject? Director Karin Eppler focuses on a psychologically precise characterization and a nuanced performance style. The stage reflects Richard's isolated world and condenses into a suffocating closeness. Through the targeted use of light and sound, Richard's diminishing perception becomes sensually tangible for the audience.
