Billboards am See: Bildstein|Glatz: Echo

Description

For over 25 years, the duo Bildstein | Glatz has occupied public space with a radicalism that defies any decorative appeal. Their constructions are architectural interventions that confrontationally renegotiate the relationship between humans, material, and environment. Made of steel, aluminum, and wood, monuments of dynamics arise – frozen moments of extreme movement between looping and radical cuts. At the “billboards am see,” this spatial force is reduced to the surface. The photographs of five projects by the duo act as a visual surrogate: they document the original provocation and let its echo resonate on the shores of Lake Constance. It is a kind of visual matryoshka: on the billboards, the large sculptures live again, embedded in their original landscape, in a changed context once more in public space.
