Between Heaven and Earth For the first time, the Zürcher Sing-Akademie is performing in Glarus—and, together with the Orchestra La Scintilla and its artistic director Florian Helgath, is bringing an extraordinary concert evening to the Stadtkirche. The program centers on two impressive works by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: the festive, virtuosic “Magnificat” and the overwhelming double-choir “Heilig.” In between, Michael Ostrzyga’s “nehme mich zu sich” will be performed as a contemporary world premiere—inspired by the poignant farewell letter of Tjark Evers, who died in an accident in 1866, and serving as an intimate counterpoint to Bach’s radiant soundscape. The Zürcher Sing-Akademie is renowned for its sonic excellence and personal interpretation and regularly performs on international concert stages. For its Glarus debut, the choir now brings this experience to the unique atmosphere of the Stadtkirche: an evening poised between hope and despair, the earthly realm and the transcendent—and an invitation to rediscover choral music in all its expressive power.
