Having been on the stages of the republic for 25 years and preparing his seventh stage program, Bernhard Hoecker faces quite a few challenges. A mere statistic about past performances, audience numbers, kilometers traveled, etc., would be unworthy of him and just old news. If he approached the matter numerically mystically, he might stumble over the number seven as a lucky number or the seventh letter in the Hebrew alphabet. There, 7 is called Zajin, which means sword. Perhaps he is slowly getting closer to the matter with that, as Bernhard Hoecker has been a pioneer of witty comedy since 2001. He has now filtered all his previous programs - centrifuged them like a beekeeper making honey, conscientiously checking the material like a cave climber rappelling, and like a carpenter choosing the finest grit for the final sanding. He has worked out the essentials: the honey is pure, the rope is tip-top in order, the wooden piece is a tactile highlight - and thus presents the seventh stage program in a pure and maximally authentic Hoecker manner. Now it gets exciting to see what he remembers after a quarter of a century and whether he can really remember all of it. Because memory in old age is such a thing, he remains curious himself whether he has stayed young enough for that.
