For years, he has traveled the world to capture his impressions of well-known symphonic works in images. A remarkable feature of his work is the harmonious transfer of musical structures and emotions into associative image sequences. He personally performs the composed visual world to the orchestra sound – bar by bar, image by image, he merges music and photographs into a total work of art. Pastoral in Pictures combines Beethoven's sound world with impressive nature shots and opens new perspectives on the masterpiece. The evening begins with Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major, a key work of the violin repertoire. Born in 2006 in the canton of Schwyz, violinist Raphael Nussbaumer performs this extraordinary piece together with the Bodensee Philharmonie under the direction of Marcus Bosch. Nussbaumer has already impressed at the Menuhin Competition and the International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition with his captivating presence. Brahms’ work demands high technical skills from the soloist, so much so that some contemporaries considered Brahms’ work unplayable. Even Joseph Joachim, one of the most important violinists of the 19th century, advised the composer to simplify some passages.
