Baroque meets Middle Ages

In over 20 rooms, insight is given into both residential culture and city history. The former residences of wealthy canvas merchants from the 18th century are worth a visit in themselves. Since 1972, the beautiful rooms have showcased residential culture from the past 500 years. In addition to the "Bischofszell city history compact," the highlights include the ceramics collection, the pharmacy and drugstore room, as well as toys from the 19th and 20th centuries. In 1881, members of the Literaria decided to collect antiquarian objects, leading to the creation of the rarities cabinet in the city library. In 1925, the Bischofszell Museum Society was founded, and the collection was housed in the Bürgerspital. Later, the collection was exhibited for 40 years in the east wing of Bischofszell Castle. In 1972, the Historical Museum was opened in the Laager House, and in 1999, the Munz House was added. The stylish museum café invites visitors to linger.
