While Paul, an ambitious and overly correct young lawyer, aligns his life according to fixed rules and clear goals, Conny follows very different principles: joy of life, spontaneity, and pleasure are paramount for her. Contrasts that soon clash uncontrollably. Even the first shared apartment proves to be anything but a romantic nest: five floors without an elevator, a broken skylight through which icy wind whistles, and hardly any space for a proper marital bed test the patience of the newlyweds. As if that weren't enough, an eccentric house community complicates cohabitation. Leading the way is the quirky neighbor Victor Velasco, who quickly uses Paul and Conny's bedroom window as access to his attic. The chaos reaches its peak when Conny's mother appears unannounced and does not hold back her blunt criticism of her daughter's living conditions. Between professional ambition, desire for freedom, family interference, and quirky neighbors, the young marriage increasingly comes under pressure.
