Two experienced musicians meet two young artists whose musical maturity far exceeds their age – an exceptionally successful encounter that measures itself less by effects than by the pure power of collaboration. The themes are often sketched out with generous lines before their development unfolds – like a creative breath that gains volume: sometimes powerful and impressively deep, sometimes reduced and with fine restraint, leaving room to breathe. Just like a wind that initially blows gently, gradually intensifies, and culminates in solos that are often performed as intimate duets. Bänz's double bass speaks with few tones yet advances in large, sonorous arcs. He creates the space in which Genius's percussion can unfold its multi-layered polyrhythms. Malcolm and Albin, in turn, balance the demanding interplay between piano and guitar with remarkable elegance. What emerges here is a fresh impulse for a jazz landscape often characterized by fleeting trends and fashionable formulas. These four musicians impress not through effects but solely through their music – and bring a rich treasure of ideas, fed from the entire history of jazz.
