Description

In the summer of 2017, a group of friends playing brass instruments met on the streets of downtown Plzeň. Inspired by the street festival of Balkan brass bands in the Serbian town of Guča, they began to meet regularly and perform unannounced concerts in restaurants and bars. They have also played in Plzeň trams and various other 'surprise' performances. Their role models at the time were the unruly Balkan orchestras from Kusturica's films. With the growing interest in further performances, the original busking project evolved into the Balkan Party Band. The lineup stabilized at six members and now includes players on trumpet, saxophone, bass tuba, tuba, drums, and vocals. Their repertoire features well-known songs like Hava Nagila, Bella Ciao, Mesecina, Bubamara, and also includes their own arrangements of lesser-known songs or original compositions. The Balkan Party Band most often plays at wedding celebrations, various festivities, and in music clubs across the Czech Republic and Germany. Last year, they performed at Václav Koubek's farm in Chotěmice and at the Rock Café in Prague during a Balkan party. They have also played at the Švestka Fest. This group brings the energy of the Balkans, mountains, and freedom, counted in seven, nine, and sometimes even eleven beats. The music of the Balkan Party Band takes the audience on a journey into a world of wild rhythms, fast melodies, and unrestrained joy. At this party, the audience will not have to force themselves into various dance moves!
