With compelling music, stirring texts, and light art, the oratorio «Katharina» connects a bold decision from 500 years ago with a touching reflection on transformation processes. At that time, Abbess Katharina von Zimmern recognized the end of an era and, by handing over her monastery to the city of Zurich, not only ended a centuries-old monastic tradition but also significantly promoted the new movement of the «Reformation». Due to the great response to the world premieres at Fraumünster in 2024, the work will be performed again. On the occasion of the revival in the evening, we invite you to exclusive insights into the conception and composition of the oratorio.
