Description
This training takes place in a context where more and more emerging artists have the opportunity to perform on stage. During this training, participants will practice guttural singing and receive advice to improve their singing practice in the studio, at concerts, and on tour. Participants will be able to: • Learn the basics of guttural singing as well as different techniques practiced in extreme metal; • Understand the vocal, physical, and mental preparation techniques necessary for performing on stage; • Discover recording methods and learn how to approach studio work; • Discover the behind-the-scenes and realities of life on tour. This workshop aims to share: • Experience in guttural singing practice; • Introduce new vocal techniques to curious individuals; • Present the reality of musicians' lives in extreme music; • Discuss the place, issues, and representation of minorities in a scene still largely dominated by men. Workshop content: • Participant introductions, brief exchange on expectations and objectives related to the workshop; • Theory and basics of guttural singing and its various techniques; • Practical group exercise in guttural singing; • What you need to know about studio recording; • The reality of touring; • Small aperitif and debrief. What to bring: A water bottle, note-taking materials, your questions about singing practice and the extreme music scene. Course materials with resources distributed at the end of the workshop.
