Queer Country Dance Workshop

Description

Dance workshop for everyone! After an introduction to the queer history of dance, an analysis of steps and fundamentals, then pirouettes and dives, try out the dance steps taught! You don't need to come with a partner, nor do you need to know how to dance! Western country dance was dangerous for many queer people until the 1990s. Since then, resistance to heteronormativity and teaching these dance styles to LGBTQIA+ individuals have allowed us to celebrate connections with oneself and with the community! Join us on the 3rd floor of the Maison des arts du Grütli! by Mads McCormick from Boots Line Dancing (London) Workshop in English with French interpreter
