Description

Sergei Prokofiev's “Symphonie Classique” in a lively interpretation forms the cheerful opening and casts a playful glance at the Viennese Classicism. With Tchaikovsky's sparkling Rococo Variations, the cello takes center stage as a lyrical-virtuoso soloist. A special highlight of the evening is the world premiere of the cello concerto by Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen. The work is shaped by the vastness and severity of the northern Norwegian landscape: imposing mountains, the sea, and the palpable change of nature are reflected in its sound world.
