Description

At the end of a wedding celebration, eight characters remain. They are the remnants who spontaneously form a family – people who care for each other in all their fragility or at least try to. We enter a kind of portrait gallery, where we discover a unique story in each character. Snapshots that also reflect the acute present: the influence that increasingly authoritarian forms of government have on our mental state. What is reality, and who in society defines it? Through the eight characters and what moves them – in the literal sense of their physical movements – a struggle for a dignified life for all emerges. The new work by interdisciplinary artist Gisèle Vienne is a blend of choreography and theater, resulting from long-term research into power relations and their construction. Vienne collaborates for the first time with the award-winning writer Marie NDiaye, whose texts weave psychological observations with dreamlike elements.
