The Kunsthaus was built in 1910 at Heimplatz and has been expanded several times since. With the building designed by David Chipperfield, the largest art museum in Switzerland was created in 2021. The extension now incorporates four core content elements: art from the 1960s, the Merzbacher, Looser and Bührle collections, temporary exhibitions, and a central entrance hall as an open place for art experience. The expanded Kunsthaus offers access to all genres of art. It currently sets changing accents in contemporary art and expands focal points in the collection that make Kunsthaus Zürich unique.
