Description

This film tells the story of 17-year-old María, who lives with her parents on a coffee plantation near an active volcano in Guatemala. Despite her future seeming predetermined by tradition and an arranged marriage, María dreams of a different world. Her life changes when she becomes involved with a young coffee picker seeking to escape to the USA. Director Jayro Bustamante combines an intimate portrait of a young Maya woman's life with a vivid glimpse into Guatemalan indigenous culture.
