With their usual captivating tunes and a good dose of wink, the Melodiven present themselves as a sister quintet between glamour and sibling quarrels, nostalgia and gift envy, Christmas carols and catastrophe... "A Beautiful Surprise" is a varied, funny, but also contemplative and sparkling program that makes the anticipation of Christmas perfect. Once again, the Melodiven demonstrate at a high artistic level how musical pieces from classical to pop, jazz, and folk music can be imaginatively combined. From inappropriate gifts to Jingle Bells earworms to an overdose of kitschy sweet melody pralines: with classics like "Ein Kind geborn’ zu Bethlehem" or "Josef, lieber Josef mein," the divas manage to enchant the audience. English carols warm the hearts, and when gifts are unwrapped during a "Campari Soda," paper and ribbons fly, and the eyes shine! But does the necessary pocket money suffice to keep up with "What ever Lola wants"? Let yourself be surprised!
