Description

Born in Toulouse, anaiis grew up between Dakar, Dublin, and Oakland. Inspired by Black thinkers and artists like Ella Fitzgerald, James Baldwin, Nina Simone, and bell hooks, she found her own voice. The latter is also responsible for writing her name in lowercase. It is a tribute to the author and activist. Her debut EP "Nina" was released in 2018. Her very first project already demonstrated a strong conviction and artistic depth. Thanks to two COLORS sessions for the singles "chuu" and "vanishing," she gained an audience worldwide. She also opened shows for Daniel Caesar and Merebas and shared a stage with soul legend Erykah Badu. Her latest album "Devotion & the Black Divine" is full of emotional clarity and a growing sense of homecoming — not to a place, but to herself. The album approaches the concept of the self with compassion and patience. anaiis feels comfortable in her humanity and finds strength in motherhood, science, and acceptance. As a universal scholar with an insatiable hunger for growth and knowledge, anaiis’ new music continues her creative journey and invites you into her intimate and reflective world she has created.
