Description
In the context of the exhibition “Amazonian Legacies – Art and Archaeology” What do the petroglyphs of Amazonia mean? Stone engravings are widespread in the Amazon region. While their origin and age still raise many questions for archaeology, for the Indigenous communities living there, they are closely linked to transmitted knowledge, traditions, and their relationship with the environment. This event places Indigenous perspectives on rock art at the forefront. In a dialogue with guests from the Nación Originaria Quijos community from Ecuador and the Huitoto community from Araracuara in Colombia, they share their views on the significance of petroglyphs in their respective regions. The dialogue is complemented by music and song in the indigenous languages Shillipanu and Huitoto. Photo: Petroglyph of the Anaconda Creator.
