Description
Rosa Parks’ story is still an important reminder today that "social change is possible – if you are brave. And not alone." When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a bus in Alabama in 1955, she sparked one of the most successful protests in history: the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Her autobiography "My Story" (first published in German by Unionsverlag in 2026, translated from English by Sonja Bonin) shows that her political resistance extends far beyond that one day. On Human Rights Day, Tuğba Ayaz speaks with Alice Hasters, author of the foreword, about the civil rights activist – from Parks’ childhood in segregated Alabama, to her decades-long work for the NAACP and the misconceptions that still persist about her political engagement today.
