An artistic intervention and a platform for cultural reflection conceived by the artist in the former AEM warehouse halls. "In attesa" ("In Expectation") is the new site-specific exhibition by Alex Dorici, specially designed and set up for the spaces of the former warehouse halls of Azienda Elettrica di Massagno (AEM). It is a new exhibition project in a place that is opening to the public for the first time as a space for artistic and cultural experimentation, thus foreshadowing its future role as a community space. More than just an exhibition, "In attesa" is an experience that invites reflection on the significance of changing places and the value of spaces that are in limbo and waiting for a new purpose. The former AEM warehouse is thus made the protagonist of the project even before its renovation: not merely a container, but an integral part of the artwork itself. Through a unique site-specific intervention spanning the two rooms, Alex Dorici creates a dialogue with the architecture, the memories, and the traces left by the building's industrial past. With this project, the municipality of Massagno aims to enhance a temporarily unused building and transform it into an open laboratory for culture and participation. The goal is not only to offer the public a contemporary art exhibition but also to breathe new life into a place through the encounter of art, architecture, and community. The program also includes a series of public and in-depth events aimed at turning the former AEM warehouse halls into a lively and community-used space. Participants will include curators, scholars, and professionals discussing topics such as urban renewal, the temporary reuse of vacant buildings, the cultural value of unused spaces, and the role of contemporary art in places traditionally not intended for exhibitions. Notably, two panel discussions are planned – one on September 17 and another on October 8, both at 6:30 PM – along with a guided tour with the artist on October 3 at 11:00 AM and a closing event with DJ set on October 23 from 6:00 PM. The visitor experience goes beyond viewing the works and becomes an opportunity for exchange and shared reflection on the future of spaces in a phase of change.
