For Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966), Paul Cezanne (1839-1906) was in many ways an important role model. Throughout his artistic career, the Bündner draftsman, painter, and sculptor realized that he could never truly reproduce the real world in his works. He captured this observation equally in his portraits, landscapes, interiors, and still lifes. Similarly, Paul Cezanne also experienced this kind of failure. For both artists, the process of perceiving a motif and the act within the creation of a drawing, a painting, or a sculpture (in the case of Alberto Giacometti) is more significant than the finished work. The tour is led by art educator Dr. Kerstin Bitar.
