Verdi captivatingly and musically portrays a highly emotional relational drama against a political backdrop, where personal feelings and political calculations clash irreconcilably. The tragic story of Aïda and Radamès is marked by monumental choruses, intimate arias, and passionate duets - not to mention the famous Triumphal March, which has gained cult status far beyond the opera. Frédéric Roels, director of the Opéra Grand Avignon, stages this Verdi masterpiece on a grand scale. The musical direction is provided by Yannis Pouspourikas.
