Description
This Advent matinée combines great romantic expressiveness with festive Christmas splendor. The first part centers on Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto – one of the most important works in cello literature, expansive, lyrical, passionate, and richly orchestrated. With Kian Soltani, a soloist who has long been part of the prominent soloist family of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, is featured. His warm tone and natural musicality meet a work that never makes virtuosity an end in itself but always lives from singing, memory, and feeling. After the break, Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker" Suite leads into a magical Christmas world. Toy figures, sweets, and dancing fantasy characters come to life – from the small overture to the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to the Waltz of the Flowers. At the podium is Aivis Greters, an emerging conductor of the younger generation. Thus, this matinée combines late romantic richness, soloistic excellence, and vivid sound worlds for the Advent season. Cast
