Ace Ross

Description

Ace Ross, based in Lausanne, works on jazz that listens to the classics but does not confine itself to them. In the studio, he constructs pieces where modern textures meet jazz forms. On stage, he plays with a band that knows how to navigate between written and improvised, without forcing or overdoing it. The musicians are solid, each brings their color, and together, they maintain a dynamic that works just as well in a small club as on a big stage. The audience? Sometimes familiar with the genre, sometimes curious, everyone finds their place. If you listen to Kneebody, Butcher Brown, or Javier Santiago, you'll see what's in store: groove, finesse, and a bit of the unexpected. In 2025, the project won the first prize at the ZKB Jazz Prize, not bad for a sound that doesn't aim to please everyone.
