At the heart of these works is always the female body. Using breathtaking archive footage, director Brydie O’Connor portrays an artist who spent her entire life documenting herself – as well as her family, her friends and her partner. From the Summer of Love right through to Hammer’s battle with cancer in her later years, we witness a woman with a zest for life who fought for her standing in the worlds of film and art, and who sought new ways of perceiving the body. The film won this year’s Teddy Award for best documentary.
