Evening Silence in Clugin

Description

...and that for about 695 years! The Clugin church, with its "typical style for Bündner country churches," according to the available art guide, must have been built before the mid-14th century. The Waltensburg and Rhäzüns paintings are dated around 1340. Since 1530, it has been said that the Schams mountain followed the Reformed direction. The church of Clugin thus stands in its "archaic simplicity" almost 200 years before the church of Jesus split into Protestant and Catholic.

Probably, besides the special wall paintings, it also contributes to its unique Romanesque atmosphere. Numerous entries in the church's guestbook express the uniqueness of this place and space. Therefore, I invite you monthly to this historically and spiritually "condensed" unique place, from spring to autumn.

An invitation to listen to the silence, to experience spirituality. Usually on Wednesdays from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, we will listen in a small group to texts from the contemplative tradition, occasionally sing songs, e.g., Taizé songs, and above all experience evening silence in silence.

The dates for 2026 for "Evening Silence in Clugin" to note: April 15, May 13, June 10, July 1 (!), August 12, September 9, and October 7.

Of course, the evenings are open to everyone, whether Reformed, Catholic, or non-denominational, just like the small church itself back then!
