A new travel lecture by Jan Rendl! What can you experience in a year in these two Andean countries? Perhaps a coup, descending the world's most dangerous road, the so-called death roads, or fleeing from your own wedding. We will explore not only the most famous places, such as Machu Picchu or Lake Titicaca. In the Peruvian desert lies the oldest discovered city in America, complete with five-thousand-year-old pyramids, and high in the glacial mountains, there is a gold mining settlement and the highest city in the world. We will climb the majestic South American glaciers, including the highest mountains of both countries – Huascarán and Sajama. We will circle the sacred mountain of the Incas, Ausangate, take a dip in hot springs along the way, enjoy coca tea, and reach the tourist-famous Rainbow Mountain, Vinicunca. We will experience a corrida, Peruvian school lessons, or indigenous baptisms where we will taste, for example, guinea pig. We will find out where in Bolivia you can freely buy dynamite at the market, jump among tarantulas, or head to the place where the famous Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara was shot.
