Capella de la Torre 7th Chamber Music Concert Katharina Bäuml initially studied modern oboe and graduated with distinction. She also studied Baroque oboe and historical reed instruments at the Schola Cantorum in Basel. Her particular interest lies in wind music from the 15th to 17th centuries, and in 2005 she founded Capella de la Torre, now the most important German ensemble for Renaissance music. Besides early music, Katharina Bäuml also dedicates herself to contemporary music on historical instruments. Since 2010, numerous compositions have been created for the duo Mixtura, including performances at the Berlin Ultraschall Festival. As director of several festivals and concert series, Katharina Bäuml continually initiates encounters between early modern music and jazz. She also emphasizes the dissemination of music in various contexts and to diverse audiences. Capella de la Torre was founded by oboist and Schalmei specialist Katharina Bäuml in Berlin. Since then, the ensemble has consistently delighted audiences in countless concerts. This is also documented by 37 CD recordings and numerous live recordings. In 2018, Capella de la Torre received the OPUS Klassik for the recording Serata Venexiana, and in 2023, another OPUS Klassik for Monteverdi-Memories. To bring the music of past centuries to life for today's ears, current, historical, and musicological insights are constantly incorporated into Capella's programs. This includes especially working with sources and original texts. A particular focus of the ensemble is working with a young audience, expressed through various educational projects.
