Cuarteto Casals 5th Chamber Music Concert For almost three decades, Cuarteto Casals has been shaping the international chamber music scene and has established itself as one of the most important string quartets of our time. Founded in 1997 at the Escuela Reina Sofía in Madrid, the quartet is now a regular guest in many of the most renowned concert halls worldwide, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonie, the Cité de la Musique, and the Philharmonie de Paris, the Vienna Konzerthaus and Musikverein, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. Their deep dedication to each piece is reflected in a discography of around twenty albums, covering works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, and Brahms, as well as the complete cycle of Beethoven quartets and works by significant 20th-century composers. Their artistic expression has also been strongly influenced by close collaborations with contemporary composers. The quartet maintains a long-standing relationship with György Kurtág and has premiered works by leading Spanish composers. Cuarteto Casals has been a guest at Kammermusik Bern in 2000, 2006, 2015, and 2019. We are now pleased to welcome this renowned quartet for the fifth time.
