german hornsound 4th Chamber Music Concert The horn quartet german hornsound, which was formed in 2010 by four former students of Christian Lampert's horn class at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, has managed to make an international name for itself through its extraordinary profile. With new concert formats and creative programs, the ensemble debuted in recent years at almost all German-speaking music festivals. The ensemble's repertoire includes all eras of music history, original works, and arrangements. However, what sets the ensemble apart is the development of its own projects. The quartet regularly performs as a soloist with renowned orchestras on major international stages. For example, they have performed Schumann's famous concert piece with the Bamberg Symphony, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the German Chamber Philharmonic Bremen under conductors Michael Sanderling, Jonathan Nott, and Paavo Järvi. Contemporary music is also very important to the ensemble. After a composition commission to Trygve Madsen (2013), they were able to engage Estonian composer Erkki-Sven Tüür to write a new piece for four horns and orchestra. This concert marks the debut of the wind ensemble at Kammermusik Bern. "Hornsound" can be extremely nature-connected, but also heroically intense or unimaginably harmonious. The proof is provided by this Christmas Special, a pre-Christmas journey with baroque highlights, radiant heroes, romantic fairy-tale worlds, Italian opera drama, American evergreen, and traditional Christmas carols—all arranged mostly for the ensemble.
