A thousand forms of reading, endless joy! How about exchanging a read book for a new one, making an original bookmark, and discovering what Jesus has in common with shrimp and artificial intelligence? The South Bohemian Gallery is participating in this year's jubilee 30th Week of Libraries (29. 9. – 4. 10. 2026) and invites you on 1. 10. 2026 to an afternoon full of books, creativity, and unexpected connections! What can you look forward to? 14:00 | Art Book Swap – give books a second chance! Do you have art books at home that you no longer read? Bring them and exchange them for others! Those that no one takes can be donated to the gallery, where they will wait for other readers on the 2nd floor. 14:00 | Upcycling Workshop – turning old into something new! Old gallery prints don't have to end up in the trash. Come and make an original bookmark for your book from them. The workshop is self-service, so you can create at your own pace. 17:00 | Is 'Shrimp Jesus' kitsch or camp? The internet is flooded with bizarre images generated by artificial intelligence. Are they just tasteless digital waste, or can we find something interesting in them? Peter Demeter will focus on the phenomenon of visual AI slop in his lecture – a flood of low-quality content created by AI. Using the concepts of kitsch and camp, which play with exaggeration, theatricality, and sometimes deliberately bad taste, he will offer a new perspective on what we commonly see on the internet today. The lecture will take place in the cinema hall on the 1st floor of Wortner House. Come enjoy a pleasant afternoon on the terrace of Wortner House, discover new books, create something, and look at contemporary visual culture from a different perspective. General Information

The 30th Week of Libraries features a variety of activities on October 1, 2026, at Wortner House in České Budějovice. Participants can exchange art books, create bookmarks from old prints, and attend a lecture discussing the intersection of kitsch and AI-generated images.
