300 Years of «Maison du Remuage»

If there is a place that illustrates the close connection between the history of Val d’Anniviers and that of Sierre, it is the Maison du remuage. It is located in the La Tservetta district and is a valuable testament to the tradition of «Remuage», when the inhabitants of Val d’Anniviers descended into the valley with their cattle to spend the season there, and settled in the districts of Sierre. On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of this building, which is so symbolic for the cultural heritage of Sierre and Val d’Anniviers, Sierre Tourisme invites you on October 17, 2026, to an extraordinary day. The Maison du remuage, which is normally only accessible by appointment, will open its doors to the public exceptionally. Join our guides on a discovery tour through this historic site, its architecture, and the traditions that have shaped it. A day during which the history of «Remuage» and the connection that has linked the Sierre plain with Val d’Anniviers for centuries will be brought back to life during a tour. **Program** **10:00 – 17:00**: Guided tours of the “Maison du Remuage” every 20 minutes (registration on site, 15 people per group) **11:00**: Speech and apéritif **12:00**: Musical performance by “Fifres et tambours de la Gougra” **14:00**: Lecture on shaking in the Sierre region and Val d’Anniviers by Armand Savioz (author of “Anniviers, le yin et yang occidental, Anthropologie de la vie alpine d’autrefois”, published by Georg) **14:00**: Musical performance by “Fifres et tambours de la Gougra” **15:00**: Musical performance by “Toba d’Anivyé” (Alpine horn) **16:30**: Musical performance by “Toba d’Anivyé” (Alpine horn) **18:00**: End of the event
