27th Festive New Year's Gala Kloten: Brass, Hackbrett and Rock ’n’ Roll

Artists / Protagonists The Brass Band Eglisau has been performing and organizing the New Year's Gala in Kloten for 27 years. A highlight of the evening is the performance of one or more high-caliber guest formations. These come from different genres. Established artists and talented newcomers are equally considered. In January 2027, the hackbrett virtuoso Nicolas Senn will be a guest for the 2nd time. As a soloist, Nicolas Senn presents a virtuoso-musical world tour, proving that everything from folk music to classical, jazz, and rock is possible on the hackbrett. For ten years, he has hosted the award-winning show “Potzmusig” on Swiss television SRF 1. After several CD productions and TV appearances, he has been awarded prizes such as the “Prix Walo” and the “Stadl-Stern” and won the “Grand Prix der Volksmusik” in Switzerland. As the 2nd guest formation, the rock ‘n’ roll dancers Noëmi and Nicolas Kuran from Bern will present a show performance. They won the 2024 European Championship in acrobatic rock ‘n’ roll and were multiple Swiss champions in this discipline. Both also dance in the formation Styleacrobats and were, among others, audience winners in the Swiss Talent Award. The Brass Band will accompany the two guest formations in some songs, playing not only brass band literature but also folklore and rock ‘n’ roll. The artists will thus provide unique performances and experiences. For the overall leader and conductor of the Brass Band Eglisau, Andreas Buri, this will be the last performance at a New Year's Gala. After 23 years of highly successful activity, he will hand over the conductor's baton in January 2027 at his own request. Procedure Traditionally, the evening starts with a New Year's aperitif in the foyer of the Schluefweg Center at 7 p.m. The concert opens at 8 p.m. After the first piece of music, the New Year's address by the city president follows, including thanks to all presenting partners of the event. The two concert parts – the first rather classical/festive, the second entertaining and with a show – are performed by the formations individually but also together. In the grand finale, all formations perform together. The intermission sale in the foyer upstairs is carried out by an external catering service, similar to the aperitif, as the restaurant 8302 is no longer open.
