Description
The three-day program brings together key figures of international experimental music and spans a range from radical improvisation to complex sound installations. Artists from Europe, Japan, and the USA develop independent sound languages and explore the relationship between instrument, space, and perception. The opening is formed by the trio TOOT with Phil Minton, Axel Dörner, and Thomas Lehn – three outstanding personalities of the European improvisation scene. With voice, trumpet, and analog synthesizers, a fragile, highly concentrated sound architecture emerges between silence, noise, and eruptive energy. Following this, the Orchestre Tout Puissant Marcel Duchamp expands the horizon towards collective sound organization: repetitive structures, African rhythms, minimal music, and post-punk merge into a dense, trance-like energy. The second evening is dedicated to extended solo formats. Asuna Arashi presents a monumental setting between concert and installation with "100 Keyboards." A multitude of small electronic instruments create shimmering, slowly changing sound fields that allow for an intense immersion over about 85 minutes. Rafael Toral continues this sonic research by transforming the electric guitar into a tool for subtle electroacoustic processes, creating finely balanced sound spaces. On the third evening, Martina Berther opens with a powerful solo performance for electric bass and electronics. Her playing combines physical presence with experimental sound strategies and moves between rhythmic structure and spatial density. The finale is the international IN SITU Ensemble, which works without fixed scores and develops its music entirely in the moment. Through precise listening and collective interaction, detailed, dynamic sound processes emerge. Each evening, Strotter Inst. (alias Christoph Hess) presents three of his "Strotter Inst. allation" and his new album, the picture disc "WEHRBAUER." Strotter Inst. can be found on-site in the Great Hall of the Reitschule.
