What will it be about? A lecture on how definitely (not) to travel by car to Pakistan. Two brothers, a thirty-year-old wreck, and a twenty-thousand-kilometer tragicomic journey from the Czech Republic to the legendary eight-thousander Nanga Parbat in the Himalayas. The expedition vehicle, a Subaru Libero, prepared for over a year, starts to break down already in the Balkans, and instead of the carefully planned itinerary, the brothers find themselves in remote Kosovo villages, sourcing a new alternator with the help of locals, looking for a tow service to neighboring Albania, and even managing to get into a minefield. In Bulgaria, they are almost arrested by plainclothes police, and when the car finally starts to work a bit in Turkey, they collide with a crazy driver and have an accident. Problems keep piling up, but the travelers' will to continue is unbreakable, and they first manage to climb the biblical Ararat and later reach the Iranian dictatorship. In Iran, they meet the friendliest people of the entire journey – they participate in a birthday celebration and almost a funeral feast, find a black market for alcohol, and manage to visit nomads. They also deal with how to quickly get a new timing belt from the Czech Republic into the closed country, without which they cannot proceed. In the end, the operation is successful, and through the wildest part of the country, Sistan and Baluchistan, the expedition reaches the Pakistani border. With an armed escort, they must travel hundreds of kilometers through areas of frequent terrorist outbreaks from neighboring Afghanistan to the capital, Islamabad. However, they are still far from the Himalayas and under the infamous mountain Nanga Parbat, which almost became fatal for the legendary Reinhold Messner...
