On Saturday, October 3, 2026, an extreme premiere awaits all weather-hardened endurance athletes and “Spinnsiächä”: 17 times the route from Linthal up to the car-free mountain village Braunwald – in one go. October 3, 2026: verticalUP in Glarus South:
The principle of the new summer challenge is as simple as it is tough: - The route: From Linthal up to the car-free mountain village Braunwald.

• The hard facts: Over 600 steep meters of elevation spread over just under 3 kilometers of path.
• The endurance test: The whole thing is completed 17 times in a row. The route can also be completed fewer or more than 17 times within the time from 4:30 AM to 11:55 PM.
• The procedure: The starting shot falls early in the morning at 4:30 AM. Going up is tough, going down is comfortable with the funicular railway, which runs back to the valley every half hour. You can also start later and, for example, compete in the Tödi Challenge with 3,612 meters of elevation. Participants are rewarded with a day full of pride, healthy pain, and a boundless sports community in the Glarus mountain world. We look forward to seeing you!
