Im Klang der Neuen Welt Concert Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1 in C major was created in his early years at the Esterházy court and was long considered lost until it was rediscovered in 1961. It combines baroque virtuosity with classical clarity and places the cello at the center. Antonín Dvořák traveled to New York in 1892 to take over the leadership of the National Conservatory of Music. Inspired by Native American melodies and songs of African American plantation workers, Dvořák tried to infuse their spirit into his Symphony No. 9 From the New World. The premiere took place in 1893 at Carnegie Hall. For this project, two sought-after musicians with Sennwald roots join forces: the award-winning cellist Sebastian Diezig, an emerging figure in the Swiss music scene, and conductor Jérôme Kuhn, known for his contemporary projects and international collaborations.
