Queen of the baroque violin Initiated by the Zurich Opera House, «Zürich Barock» also presents a diverse program this season, ranging from baroque opera to chamber music. With a musical homage to Charles Avison, Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Gallo, and Georg Friedrich Händel, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra participates in «Zürich Barock». Alongside them shines Rachel Podger, described by The Times as «the unrivaled British master of the baroque violin». She was the first woman to be awarded the prestigious Bach Prize of the Royal Academy of Music in October 2015. Since her early youth, infected with «Barockitis», she founded the Brecon Baroque Festival and the award-winning ensemble Brecon Baroque. For her solo album Tutta Sola, Rachel Podger was awarded the BBC Music Magazine Recording of the Year Award and the Instrumental Award in 2023.
