Deutsch Eine Reihe von Briefen, welche die beiden queeren Künstler*innen an ihre Kinder und ihre Mütter schreiben, bildet die Basis von LETTERS- ein persönliches und zugleich gesellschaftliches und poetisches Protokoll, welches familiäre, generationelle und kulturelle Transformationsbewegungen beschreibt. Indem die beiden Künstler*innen die Fragilität und Stärke ihrer Lebensrealitäten teilen, öffnet sich ein Erfahrungsraum der Empathie, in welchem Differenz verhandelbar und Solidarität jenseits identitärer Abgrenzung möglich wird. Besondere Dringlichkeit gewinnt diese Arbeit vor dem Hintergrund des zunehmenden gesellschaftlichen Backlashs. Wenn öffentliche Debatten migrantische und queere Menschen zunehmend stigmatisieren und politische Kräfte eine Retraditionalisierung von Identität und Familie vorantreiben, wird sichtbar, wie exklusiv die vielbeschworene „Freiheit“ gedacht ist. LETTERS macht gelebte Realität queerer Familien sichtbar - nicht als Provokation, sondern als konstruktives Beispiel dafür, dass Elternschaft, queere Identität, transnationale Zugehörigkeit und traditionelle soziale Räume einander nicht ausschließen. LETTERS wird somit zu einem tiefgreifenden Versuch der Heilung und Zärtlichkeit durch das geschriebene Wort. Das Stück wird auf Deutsch, Spanisch und Englisch gespielt und ist auf Deutsch und Englisch übertitelt. English A series of letters written by the two queer artists to their children and their mothers forms the foundation of LETTERS: a deeply personal, poetic and socially engaged work that traces processes of transformation across family, generations and culture. By sharing both the vulnerability and resilience of their lived realities, the artists open a space for empathy where difference can be explored and solidarity becomes possible beyond fixed identities. The work gains particular urgency in light of the growing social backlash against migrant and queer communities. As public discourse increasingly stigmatizes marginalized groups and political movements seek to restore traditional ideas of identity and family, LETTERS asks who is truly included in the freedom our societies claim to uphold. Rather than presenting queer families as an exception or a provocation, LETTERS offers them as a lived reality and a hopeful example that parenthood, queer identity, transnational belonging and traditional social spaces need not be mutually exclusive. Through the intimate act of letter writing, the performance becomes a profound exploration of healing, tenderness and human connection. The performance is presented in German, Spanish and English, with German and English surtitles. Español Una serie de cartas que las dos artistas queer escriben a sus hijos e hijas y a sus madres constituye la base de LETTERS: una obra profundamente personal, poética y de gran relevancia social que explora los procesos de transformación en el ámbito familiar, generacional y cultural. Al compartir tanto la fragilidad como la fortaleza de sus experiencias de vida, las artistas abren un espacio de empatía donde la diferencia puede ser comprendida y la solidaridad puede surgir más allá de las identidades establecidas. La obra adquiere una especial urgencia en un contexto marcado por el creciente rechazo social hacia las personas migrantes y queer. En un momento en que el debate público estigmatiza cada vez más a estos colectivos y determinados movimientos políticos promueven un retorno a modelos tradicionales de identidad y familia, LETTERS plantea quiénes quedan realmente incluidos en la idea de libertad que nuestras sociedades defienden. Lejos de presentar a las familias queer como una provocación, LETTERS las muestra como una realidad vivida y como un ejemplo esperanzador de que la maternidad y la paternidad, la identidad queer, la pertenencia transnacional y los espacios sociales tradicionales no tienen por qué excluirse mutuamente. A través del acto íntimo de escribir cartas, la obra se convierte en una profunda reflexión sobre la sanación, la ternura y la conexión humana. La obra se representa en alemán, español e inglés, con sobretítulos en alemán e inglés.
